Susan Burrows Dabney's passion is the land - its beauty and bounty whether out in the bitter cold of the winter or the warmth and the rich colors of the fall. For me, the only way to paint such magnificence is to be set up outside with my easel with the vista in front of me ready to be painted.

Plein air painting is magical, dangerous, thrilling, quiet, and always influenced by whatever weather comes through. Eveything changes all the time and it is my intention to capture the magic of it all. I have to be ready to balance the wild ride that nature suprises me with in order to stay connected to that process.
